It has been a very busy winter and spring at Aspotogan Ridge! Tree clearing continued throughout both seasons when the weather permitted and heavy equipment moved in several weeks ago! Although the economic downturn may have slowed things down somewhat we are confident Nova Scotia has turned the bend and is well on its way to a strong economic recovery.
Our goal in conjunction with our golf course contractor, Turf Masters Ltd., is to complete the grubbing, all cuts & fills and shaping through GPS technology onboard the heavy equipment by September with all of the seeding, sodding and completion of tees and greens as early as the Spring weather will allow. Our grow-in should be complete by the Fall of next year with the back nine holes well underway at that time.

The sale of Phase 1 lots started in early November and was 50% sold out in one week. Phase 2 will come on stream by January 1. The permit for the golf course is now in hand and the course architect Robert Leblanc has just completed the centerline cut plan which will allow construction of the 18 hole championship golf course to start immediately. Key infrastructure is already in place with more than 3km of road, power, communication and high speed internet in place. Aspotogan Elementary School a new P3 school with a large playground and soccer field is connected to the site and two regulation size ball fields have been donated to the municipality.
Robert Leblanc noted in reviewing his final design “the addition of 150 acres to the original site, which encompasses Farm Lake will add some spectacular golf holes to the already mature forest, scenic wetlands and panoramic vistas of Aspotogan Ridge." Leblanc added, "The 7,000 yard championship course will be a credit to the community, and a challenge and delight to play."
Approximately 300 homes of various styles and designs from single family residential, townhouse and single level 50+ residential units are expected to be constructed over the next few years. The first show homes will be built in early spring. The developers of Aspotogan Ridge, Aspotogan Developments Ltd. www.aspotoganridge.com said they are delighted that the development is now under way and attracting the attention of people from all over Canada, US and Europe and is shaping up to be a world class location which the residents of Aspotogan Ridge and the surrounding area of Mill Cove and St. Margaret’s Bay will be proud of.
